Build a route that fits
Kotor or Tivat works well for Boka Bay; Budva connects the Riviera with Lake Skadar day trips. Use Žabljak for Durmitor and Tara Canyon, and Kolašin when Bjelasica and Biogradska Gora are priorities. A seven-day route works best with two bases; ten days makes extra hotel changes easier.
Tivat is a useful coastal starting point. Podgorica can suit Lake Skadar and a route north. Compare flight times before fixing the direction: arrival and departure count within your trip length. If leaving early, spend the final night nearer your departure airport.
Plan the coast-to-Žabljak journey as a travel day with a suitable stop, rather than adding a full adventure programme. Mountain roads, summer congestion and sightseeing stops change journey times. Use the driving ranges in our seven-day itinerary when deciding what fits.
A self-drive Montenegro itinerary offers flexibility; a private driver can simplify parking and transfers. Our itinerary without a car uses arranged transport and activity pickups. For self-driving, confirm rental terms and parking before booking accommodation.
Keep boat and mountain activities flexible and choose one main adventure per day. High mountain routes need an access check for your dates. A coast-focused route may suit a short or gentler trip better than combining every region.
Compare accommodation, vehicle and driver costs, activities, meals, park entry and airport transfers separately. Silver Firs quotes each itinerary around your dates and group size. Read our Montenegro travel planning guide, or request a personalised proposal.

Before choosing a route
Start with seven days using three coastal nights and three nights in Žabljak. Combine Boka Bay and Kotor, Lake Skadar, a dedicated transfer day, Tara Canyon and Durmitor. Adapt arrival and departure days to your flights.
Five days suits a compact trip with fewer stops. Seven days allows a coast-and-Durmitor journey with two bases. Ten days gives more room for Kolašin, Biogradska Gora and free afternoons.
Yes. Plan private transfers between overnight bases and arrange activity pickups in advance. The Silver Firs car-free itinerary uses arranged transport; transfers are included only when listed in your quotation.
It is possible but involves a long day on the road. For a seven-day trip, stay in Žabljak to spend more time in Durmitor and Tara Canyon. For a short coastal break, consider keeping the north for another trip.
Yes. Use fewer hotel bases, shorter activity blocks and scenic stops. Boat trips, cultural visits and suitable panoramic tours can replace hiking. Share children’s ages and mobility needs so suitability can be checked.
No. The routes are planning starting points. Your proposal confirms accommodation, transport, selected activities, inclusions and price for your dates and group size.
